Simpler on-farm sorting of silage plastics for recycling is one benefit of Fendt adding a film binding system to the Rotana 160 V round baler-wrapper. Scrap Press Machine

Instead of having to separate netting and bale film, the system allows the same material to be used to bind the bale at the end of the forming process and to wrap it once ejected.

Another attraction, says Fendt, is that extra layers of air-excluding stretch film are introduced around the circumference of the bale, which can help to successfully store the forage with minimal waste.

Film binding is already an option on Rotana F fixed-chamber round balers, including the Combi baling and wrapping model, but the system on the variable-chamber machines is reckoned to use up to 3m less film per bale.

Rotana 160 V baler-wrappers produce bales from 0.7m to 1.6m diameter, so they offer the versatility to make bigger bales of material lighter than grass silage, such as hay and straw.

All Rotana balers and baler-wrappers are available with 13, 17 or 25 crop slicing knives – or none at all – and the Combi versions dispense wrap from two pre-stretch units carried on a horizontal steel ring driven by hydraulic motor-powered rubber friction wheels.

A new Load System quick-change mechanism for film and net rolls at the front of the baler comes in two forms – Eco, which requires some manual effort to load rolls onto a padded chute and then raise it into position, and Comfort. This provides an assisted lift requiring minimal muscle power.

Either way, up to three rolls of ready-to-bind rolls are stored up front, which should be sufficient for a typical day’s work.

Also, a revamped tailgate opening and closing mechanism operates faster than before, to the extent that a Rotana V Combi, for example, can produce up to 30 more bales a day than before.

The faster tailgate opening and closing design is an option on all Rotana machines.

Imagine a revolutionary solution that puts a thousand machines in your pocket!
