The district aims to have metal detectors in all 24 public high schools by year-end.

Following a successful pilot program at four schools, Palm Beach County School District is rolling out metal detectors across all of its high schools. This expansion will see an additional 63 metal detectors installed, bringing the total to 75.

Students are now required to pass through these detectors each morning, removing any large objects that may trigger an alarm. School staff will assist students who set off the detectors to determine the cause.
